The Southern Region Community Leadership Group

is an incorporated not for profit organisation working in partnership with community volunteers, representatives from Development Commissions, Local Government, business and not-for-profit organisations in the Peel, Great Southern and South West.

It was formed in 2005 and became incorporated in 2007-2008 financial year.

This is the only group of this type in regional Western Australia.

The annual Forum and Skills Development Program aims to educate,

support and inspire leaders thus helping create and maintain strong, vibrant

and healthy rural communities.

....Meet the committee....

di

Di Holly - leads her royal cortège from the big chair.

Di-namic, buxom and wanton wench, illustrious leader, with unbridled creativity and somewot jaundiced, hue.  Di is a compulsive volunteer, and Chair of the Hidden Treasures.  This is her second year of enthusiasm and participation involved in this vision, and it’s a panoramic one!

John Rice - is the quiet achiever, the lone wolf in the pack.  Deputy Chair with a wicked sense of humor and terror of the road riding on his black steed between Denmark and Perth.  A self employed tree surgeon, which no doubt is how he has acquired his talent for bush poetry.

Cheryle Brown

Cheryle Brown - we used to be able to say a lot about Cheryle but now she keeps interrupting!  She’s come out of her shell and we can’t put her back in!!  As Treasurer she holds the purse strings, and is held in very high regard as Nannup Community Resource Centre Coordinator, and pillar of the community.

Toni Davis – Minstrel extraordinaire lyrically leads us all in one voice and is Piped Piper to the group.  We follow her merry dance, joyfully at meetings or late into the night.  Out of costume Toni guides people with disabilities in seeking independence, (which is why she probably works so well with the committee).

Ros Benson

Roz Benson – fool and buffoon, with a heart of gold, here is a compulsive community person. Always helping people in strife worshiped as “Patron Saint of Lost Causes”. Creative genius behind the Medieval Carnival in Balingup, and has brought that passion to this years forum. Her motto is 'Let me help! I can do it!'

Helen Alexander – anchored in reality - resides in Yar – Loop! A driving force in establishing the local Community Resource Centre, having achieved that momentous task, she was looking for another challenge and found it in grounding this outrageous group, a wonderful example of joy and gratitude for what is received...

Elaine Squire

Elaine Squire – said to just tell them that I'm wonderful! Very focused -  is always aiming for the target but since she'd joined the group not quite sure what the target is... she is reassured by knowing this is because she is new to the committee.   In another life she works with young people with intellectual disabilities designing programs for self advocacy.  Working with this committee gives her the opportunity to bring those gifts to a multi- age grouping!  Loves to celebrate...

Wendy Trow – task master...the whip cracker, dragon tamer and action planner.  The military strategist who attempts to bring some order to this in-coherent rabble, still wondering what she is doing here.. and soon off to Cambodia for her next challenge after having discovered her creative self as part of this group.  Then in her real life, community member, and emergency planner, and the Balingup Carnival court jester.

Wendy Trow
Roz

Roslind Wych – sexetary, redheaded, regal, radiant rebel.  Her immaculately groomed nails tap furiously across the keyboard trying to make literacy sense of dysfunctional tattle and laughter.  One who has embraced the medieval theme even though she finds the concept incredibly barbaric.  Committed to learning the language, customs of the times, beware she has the key to the stocks tucked in her chastity belt.  Her alter ego works with regional and remote communities through the Community Resource Centre Network.  Naughty but nice, faire thee well, may God be with you as thou art knoweth thus circle can not becometh square!

Jude Daniels – our resident mystic and guide, dispelling all evil energy and channeling positive vibrations into our beings.  In her other life she is exactly the same.  Life Alignment Coach.

Jude Daniels

Plus many of our past committee people and volunteers who have always pitched in to help- like these: Jon Birch, Chris Bellanger, Debbie Rice, Bronya Wickland, Donna Selby, Phillip Light, Donald Clark, Deanna Guimelli, Mark Furr.
