The Nannup Flower and Garden Festival
(Finalist in "Alcoa Leadership through Partnership" Award)

Working in partnership with business, volunteer groups, community groups and government the  newly incorporated Nannup Garden Village Inc has delivered a successful 2011 Nannup Flower and Garden Festival.  The festival uses the skills, commitment and knowledge of volunteers and business people and creative talents of artists to stage a wonderful floral and environmental showcase for the region.  The Nannup Garden Village Inc has been able to garner support by attracting funding from government, sponsorship from business and an inspirational and dynamic relationship with two local artists to ensure the festival under its new management has a new and vibrant look.  For the first time in its 14 year history Nannup Flower and Garden Festival has received Lotterywest Funding and has increased its budget from under $20 k to over 30K in under 12 months...

Young person Jarrah Chambers 18, was appointed as artistic director of the 2011 flower display with support from Neville Hamilton, Louise Stokes and Jarrah’s mother, Athie Chambers.  Jarrah’s vision of an Alice in Wonderland display inspired more people to become involved and rejuvenated peoples enthusiasm for the event which is greatly appreciated by the community as a social and cultural event but a necessary economic injection in a very low point of the year.  Many community groups benefit from this event which is used as a fundraiser for them.
