Rosa Moyle
(Finalist in "Bendigo Bank Inspirational Community Leadership" Award)
Rosa has demonstrated leadership through her commitment to the Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival and the various components of the Festival program. The success of the Festival has been due to the inspiration, commitment and work by a number of volunteer members. Specific roles undertaken by Rose as part of the team delivering the Festival program include:
• Grants officer – applying and acquitting grants as required. In the 9 years the event has been held it has been successful in securing over $270,000 in grants • Treasurer – undertaking all the financial aspects of the Festival, including reporting to the committee, preparing all statements and quarterly BAS statements maintaining a record of the group’s assets and stock for resale and ensuring that the group’s financial accounts are audited each financial year • Marketing and Promotion – working with the various media outlets to promote the Festival to the community and regional Western Australia. • Work as part of the Festival group to encourage and support all members of the committee. Rosa has attended a number of training courses over the years and has been able to pass on the gained knowledge to the group and other organisations. Partnerships have been encouraged through the support of the Events Alliance group, (comprising four events in the South West). The support of this group has enabled the Festival to develop a strong voice when lobbying government on behalf of the South West and the four events involved. In addition, Rose has supported a range of partnerships between various groups in the region and has also encouraged and promoted strong partnerships with funding bodies, sponsors and business. Beneficiaries of the Festival include: • Community of Manjimup through the presentation of the Festival, with the day component being free entry • Local community groups who are able to use the Cherry Festival to fundraise and also increase their profiles within the community • Stakeholders including the Shire of Manjimup, businesses which includes tourism and retail (click image for larger view)
